Mauro Atalla
Engineering & Technology
Mauro Atalla is the Engineering & Technology leader at Collins Aerospace. In this role, Mauro oversees a highly skilled and accomplished network of over 15,000 engineers that spans more than 150 sites across 24 countries. He is responsible for promoting technical and program execution excellence, technology innovation, and the career development of Collins engineers. He also leads the company’s central engineering and applied research organizations.
Mauro joined Raytheon Technologies in 2000 as a staff engineer at the Raytheon Technologies Research Center. Since then, he has served in several leadership roles of increasing responsibility across the former United Technologies commercial businesses and Raytheon’s Collins Aerospace. Prior to his current role, he most recently served as vice president of Engineering & Technology for Sensors & Integrated Systems, a former business unit of Collins Aerospace with a broad portfolio of products, technologies, and customers.
Mauro earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Campinas (Brazil). He earned a doctorate in engineering mechanics from Virginia Tech and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University. Prior to joining Raytheon, Mauro was a research scientist in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mauro is the author/co-author of several patents and peer-reviewed technical publications and serves on the Advisory Boards of University of Michigan’s Aerospace Engineering Department and Virginia Tech’s Department of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics. In 2018, Mauro was recognized by Virginia Tech with its Graduate Alumni Achievement Award.
