Natural veneers
The very embodiment of luxury, our natural wood veneers express the unique growth patterns of the trees from which they came and the soil and climate in which they grew. Each of our over 150 fine woods possess its own signature character of color, figure, and texture. AlumiFlite™
Go light. Go free. With AlumiFlite.
An innovative three-ply product, AlumiFlite consists of a face veneer with an aluminum core—offered in two thicknesses—and a poplar backer. Free of fire retardant chemicals and up to 40% lighter than traditional veneer products, AlumiFlite costs less to ship and is also more flexible and easier to work with. Originally designed for the European completion center market, AlumiFlite is an excellent option for OEMs and global completion centers—anywhere a high-quality, chemical-free face veneer is desired.
FLiteflex™
Flex your design with FLiteflex.
No product on the market can match the flexibility of FLiteFlex™. Made with patent-pending two-ply technology consisting of a face veneer and a synthetic substrate, FLiteFlex provides a superb balance of thermal and mechanical properties. It’s also 60% lighter than existing veneer products, resulting in substantial weight savings. FLiteFlex’s thin, burn-resistant substrate is extremely durable – and extraordinarily flexible. With its ability to bend neatly around tight radii – something traditional veneer could never achieve – FLiteFlex offers OEMs, designers, and cabinet shops an exciting new range of possibilities.
Carbon fiber
Make a powerful statement with carbon fiber.
In 1976, Carl Booth invented the unique 3-ply veneer product that was to become the industry standard for private aircraft interiors. Continuing that legacy of innovation, our patent-pending 3-ply carbon fiber design employs a cross-band and long-band of poplar with a face ply of high-quality carbon fiber. Available in two thicknesses—1/42” or 1/75”—the carbon fiber application evokes strength and style—and ideal choice for those seeking a sleek, more hi-tech expression of luxury.
Hardwood
We take hardwood seriously.
Since 2018 we’ve offered some 30 species of natural hardwood lumber and 20 patterns of composite lumber. Committed to purchasing the highest quality available in domestic, import, and specialty, we supply our lumber in boules, live edge, and square, with thicknesses ranging from 4/4 to 12/4 to meet our customers’ needs.
Marquetry
Your custom veneers can become even more striking with our masterful inlay and marquetry work. Offering a range of services from laser marquetry and metal inlay to sketch faces and image replication, our in-house teams will design and craft unique patterns or images, adding intricate details to your aircraft’s interior that will imbue it with an unparalleled sense of luxury.
Sustainability
Collins Aerospace is committed to the environmental and social responsibilities of forest protection and restoration, and so are our suppliers. Our trusted suppliers take steps to ensure they support forest management. They select and purchase logs and trees from private landowners and government-owned properties that employ state-certified foresters. They are experts at determining which trees are mature and ready for harvest, using only the finest veneer-quality trees and leaving behind smaller trees to age and benefit future generations.
Why use wood for our prestigious furnishings and interiors? Rather than using plastic laminates, foils, and metals which do not naturally decompose, wood will decompose on its own and return to the earth to replenish itself. This makes wood the only self-renewing natural resource. By using wood, you can expect beauty and strength, durability, thermal protection, and the ability to store carbon dioxide – another reason why wood is considered “green” and sustainable.
The imported inventory of veneer that we secure from suppliers is legally imported under the Lacey Act. While not all species can be classified as accredited species, our suppliers are dedicated to securing strictly certified wood on every possible occasion.
Like our suppliers, Collins Aerospace is committed to environmental sustainability and continues to take every step possible to ensure we are offering responsibly harvested veneer.
