Vice President, GTF Industrial Program

Carmelo Lo Faro is vice president, GTF Industrial Program, for Pratt & Whitney. In this role, Carmelo is responsible for the GTF industrial ramp across Original Equipment (OE) and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) to support the fleet and achieve full rate airframer volumes. 

Carmelo brings more than 25 years of experience in aerospace & defense as well as operational excellence and advanced materials. Before joining Pratt & Whitney, he served as vice president, Advanced Operations for RTX, where he led the company’s advanced casting, forging, additive and materials strategies. Prior to that, Carmelo spent 25 years at Solvay and Cytec where he held several roles of increasing responsibility, including CTO and, most recently, Materials Segment president. In this position, he was responsible for a $4.5B global business providing innovative advanced materials to multiple markets including Aerospace & Defense, Semiconductors, Automotive, Li-ion batteries, Healthcare and Energy.

Carmelo has served on the Executive Committee of the Aerospace Industry Association and the Board of Directors of CEM Defense Materials.

He holds a Doctorate of Science in Material Science and a Master in Mechanical Engineering from Catania University in Italy and a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University. He is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt, has authored several technical papers and holds 9 patents for novel advanced materials and processes.
