Raytheon provides modernization and new capability development and integration in support of the U.S. Navy’s MK54 lightweight torpedo program.
The MK54 is the primary Anti-Submarine Warfare weapon used by U.S. Navy surface ships, fixed-wing aircraft, and helicopters. Compatible with over 20 launch platforms, it’s capable of tracking, classifying, and attacking underwater targets.
Rigorous testing
The MK54 provides a high-level sonar source, narrow beams to improve performance in contested environments and reliability as proven during in-water exercises. It has undergone over 25,000 high-fidelity simulation runs at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, Rhode Island.
Increased performance and effectiveness
Under the current MK54 Mod 2 program, Raytheon is developing new propulsion and warhead technology. These enhancements will increase weapon effectiveness against a wide range of targets and provide the U.S. Navy with an incremental jump in weapon performance.
