Long-range, multi-mission missile

The Joint Strike Missile – or JSM – is a long-distance weapon that takes on heavily defended targets on land and at sea. Its long standoff range, or distance from the launching aircraft to the target, keeps pilots out of harm’s way.

Modernized tech

The Joint Strike Missile’s navigation system allows it to rapidly change course in flight and fly at low, radar-evading altitudes. Its imaging infrared seeker provides autonomous target recognition, and a two-way data link offers retargeting and mission abort options.

Arming a stealth fighter

Raytheon and Norwegian defense company Kongsberg Defence Aerospace are developing JSM for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. The Joint Strike Missile is the only fifth-generation cruise missile designed to be launched from the internal weapons bay of the F-35A.

JSM will be carried externally on other aircraft. Norway’s Ministry of Defense successfully test-fired the weapon from an F-16 Fighting Falcon in 2018.
