The Autonomous Systems team combines automation and AI-enabled technologies to augment human abilities, enhance human-autonomy teaming, and increase safety and operational efficiency across aviation, defense and space. Working collaboratively within Collins Aerospace and our parent company, Raytheon Technologies, and in partnership with academic and industrial organizations, we innovate and advance progress in automation, autonomy and robotics.
Focus areas
- Enabling technologies to reduce pilot workload, and to increase automation and autonomy in the cockpit for enhanced safety
- Design and deployment of UAM/AAM/RAM/UTM systems for unmanned aviation, including efficient wayfinding, strategic and tactical deconfliction and detect-and-avoid systems services. These services are for Urban/Advanced/Regional Air Mobility, UAS Traffic Management, and the integration of ATM/UTM contributing to the U-Space growth in Europe.
- Human autonomy teaming to design human-centric autonomy in aerospace and defense industry.
- Manned-unmanned teaming to achieve future mission autonomy.
- Extended Reality to design a new human experience in training and operational environments.
- Design and prototype of emerging robotics and perception systems.
